Hartford Choral Society has been running since 2005 and has given a series of fantastic concert performances, including Faure's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana and, most recently in 2019, African Sanctus by David Fanshawe. All proceeds from the season are donated to charity.
This autumn, the Choral Society will be performing the iconic Requiem Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
This deeply moving masterpiece was the first performed in 1792 was the final contribution by Mozart to the world of music and features the last 8 bars be ever composed as the opening for the Lacrimosa movement.

Robyn Pullen soprano
British Soprano, Robyn Pullen, is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester where she is under the tutelage of Renowned Baritone, Matthew Best, with whom she has been studying for over 2 years. Prior to this, she studied Music at Cardiff University where she undertook her bachelor’s degree. Robyn has been proud to receive scholarships to both of her study endeavours – her current studies at the RNCM being generously supported by the James & Mary Glass Scholarship.
As a performer, most recently Robyn organised and performed in a charity fundraiser concert at her local church singing a mixture of Musical Theatre and Opera, successfully raising over £800 for her local parish.
Robyn has shared the stage with several renowned performers such as Baritone Roderick Williams and Aled Jones MBE to name a few. Alongside this, Robyn has sung throughout the UK and Europe both as a soloist and with choirs since the age of 12. Robyn has recently began work as a concert soloist. Current repertoire includes: Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart Vesperae solennes de confessore and Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem.
She is also a keen performer of opera. Current roles include: Mrs Sem Noye’s Fludde (Orchestra of the Swan for Benjamin Britten’s 100 year celebration), Susannah Susannah (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Carmen Carmen (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Lucilla La Scala di Seta.
She is delighted to perform alongside Hartford Choral Society for her first opportunity to sing the Soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem.

Rebecca Anderson mezzo-soprano
Rebecca Anderson is a Scottish mezzo-soprano studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies in Performing at Royal Northern College of Music. In 2021 she completed an MMus with distinction at the RNCM and then worked as the President of the Students’ Union 21-22.
Recent opera credits have included Minskwoman in Flight (RNCM Opera); Lapak The Cunning Little Vixen (RNCM Opera); Sœur Anne de la Croix Dialogues des Carmélites (RNCM Opera); Phyllis Iolanthe (Cat-like Tread at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe); Noémie Cendrillon (Fife Opera); and Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw (Byre Opera). Rebecca was also part of the Young Artists’ Programme at Waterperry Opera Festival in the summer of 2021.
During her time as a student at the RNCM Rebecca has been the recipient of the Emmanuel Prize, a finalist for the Frederic Cox Award, and was Highly Commended in the English Song Prize. Previously, Rebecca was a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus’ Young Singers’ Programme for two seasons working with internationally renowned conductors such as Richard Egarr, Maxim Emelyanychev, and James Macmillan. Additionally, in 2018 Rebecca was part of the Dunedin Consort’s flagship scheme ‘Bridging the Gap’ touring across Scotland in a concert series conducted by Ben Parry.
Rebecca is also an avid conductor. This year she is working with Siân Edwards at the Royal Academy of Music as part of the Sorrell Woman’s Conducting Programme and was also part of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Women Conductor’s Initiative in 2017.

Joe Ashmore baritone
Joe is a lyric baritone in his second year of masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he obtained a first class honours degree at undergraduate level, generously supported by the South Square Trust and the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust.
Joe’s operatic experience includes three chorus roles during his undergraduate at RNCM, performing in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, Handel’s Theodora and Massenet’s Cendrillon. He was also cast as ‘Mistrust’ in RNCM's production of The Pilgrim's Progress by Vaughan-Williams in Spring 2019. Joe sang the role of the ‘Witch of Endor’ in Handel’s Saul as a guest soloist of the Academy Choir, Wimbledon, alongside renowned bass-baritone Christopher Purves in early 2020. Joe returned to the opera stage in June when he took the role of ‘Prosper’ in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne as part of RNCM Opera Scenes. Most recently, Joe joined the chorus of the Dorset Opera Festival performing Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Mozart’s The Magic Flute for their summer festival this year.
In December 2021, Joe made his Bridgewater Hall debut with the RNCM Songsters when performing in a pre-concert performance of Scandinavian music. Joe was also selected to represent the RNCM as part of a chorus travelling to Bergen, Norway to perform in the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth's Magnificat in April. A lover of the songs of Schubert, Joe performed his first full Winterreise earlier this month at Emmanuel Church, Didsbury’s weekly coffee concert series.

Rowan Gillard tenor
English Tenor, Rowan Gillard, has performed under the baton of some of the world’s finest conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Andrew Greenwood, David Parry and Edward Gardener. Some of Rowan’s recent engagements include singing in the chorus of Madame Butterfly for the Hallé Season Finale, concerts in Madonna Dell ‘Orto, Venice, as a founding course member of MusicaLink and touring to Bergen, Norway to perform the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth’s Magnificat with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rowan is currently in his fourth year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Paul Nilon.
Rowan has partaken in multiple radio and television broadcasts including two recordings of a BBC Radio 4 Daily Service and, in December 2022, will perform in the RNCM Opera Chorus as part of their production of Die Fledermaus.
Outside of performing, Rowan is passionate about education and, specifically, ensuring that music is made accessible to all children and that work is done to tackle the stigma around studying the arts.
Rowan is generously supported in his studies at the RNCM by the Rollo-Davidson Scholarship.

British Soprano, Robyn Pullen, is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester where she is under the tutelage of Renowned Baritone, Matthew Best, with whom she has been studying for over 2 years. Prior to this, she studied Music at Cardiff University where she undertook her bachelor’s degree. Robyn has been proud to receive scholarships to both of her study endeavours – her current studies at the RNCM being generously supported by the James & Mary Glass Scholarship.
As a performer, most recently Robyn organised and performed in a charity fundraiser concert at her local church singing a mixture of Musical Theatre and Opera, successfully raising over £800 for her local parish.
Robyn has shared the stage with several renowned performers such as Baritone Roderick Williams and Aled Jones MBE to name a few. Alongside this, Robyn has sung throughout the UK and Europe both as a soloist and with choirs since the age of 12. Robyn has recently began work as a concert soloist. He was also cast as ‘Mistrust’ in RNCM's production of The Pilgrim's Progress by Vaughan-Williams in Spring 2019. Joe sang the role of the ‘Witch of Endor’ in Handel’s Saul as a guest soloist of the Academy Choir, Wimbledon, alongside renowned bass-baritone Christopher Purves in early 2020. Joe returned to the opera stage in June when he took the role of ‘Prosper’ in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne as part of RNCM Opera Scenes. Most recently, Joe joined the chorus of the Dorset Opera Festival performing Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Mozart’s The Magic Flute for their summer festival this year.
In December 2021, Joe made his Bridgewater Hall debut with the RNCM Songsters when performing in a pre-concert performance of Scandinavian music. Joe was also selected to represent the RNCM as part of a chorus travelling to Bergen, Norway to perform in the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth's Magnificat in April. English Tenor, Rowan Gillard, has performed under the baton of some of the world’s finest conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Andrew Greenwood, David Parry and Edward Gardener. Some of Rowan’s recent engagements include singing in the chorus of Madame Butterfly for the Hallé Season Finale, concerts in Madonna Dell ‘Orto, Venice, as a founding course member of MusicaLink and touring to Bergen, Norway to perform the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth’s Magnificat with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rowan is currently in his fourth year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Paul Nilon.
Rowan has partaken in multiple radio and television broadcasts including two recordings of a BBC Radio 4 Daily Service and, in December 2022, will perform in the RNCM Opera Chorus as part of their production of Die Fledermaus.
Outside of performing, Rowan is passionate about education and, specifically, ensuring that music is made accessible to all children and that work is done to tackle the stigma around studying the arts.

Rebecca Anderson mezzo-soprano
Rebecca Anderson is a Scottish mezzo-soprano studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies in Performing at Royal Northern College of Music. In 2021 she completed an MMus with distinction at the RNCM and then worked as the President of the Students’ Union 21-22.
Recent opera credits have included Minskwoman in Flight (RNCM Opera); Lapak The Cunning Little Vixen (RNCM Opera); Sœur Anne de la Croix Dialogues des Carmélites (RNCM Opera); Phyllis Iolanthe (Cat-like Tread at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe); Noémie Cendrillon (Fife Opera); and Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw (Byre Opera). Rebecca was also part of the Young Artists’ Programme at Waterperry Opera Festival in the summer of 2021.
During her time as a student at the RNCM Rebecca has been the recipient of the Emmanuel Prize, a finalist for the Frederic Cox Award, and was Highly Commended in the English Song Prize. Previously, Rebecca was a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus’ Young Singers’ Programme for two seasons working with internationally renowned conductors such as Richard Egarr, Maxim Emelyanychev, and James Macmillan. Additionally, in 2018 Rebecca was part of the Dunedin Consort’s flagship scheme ‘Bridging the Gap’ touring across Scotland in a concert series conducted by Ben Parry.

Joe Ashmore baritone
Joe is a lyric baritone in his second year of masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he obtained a first class honours degree at undergraduate level, generously supported by the South Square Trust and the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust.
Joe’s operatic experience includes three chorus roles during his undergraduate at RNCM, performing in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, Handel’s Theodora and Massenet’s Cendrillon. He was also cast as ‘Mistrust’ in RNCM's production of The Pilgrim's Progress by Vaughan-Williams in Spring 2019. Joe sang the role of the ‘Witch of Endor’ in Handel’s Saul as a guest soloist of the Academy Choir, Wimbledon, alongside renowned bass-baritone Christopher Purves in early 2020. Joe returned to the opera stage in June when he took the role of ‘Prosper’ in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne as part of RNCM Opera Scenes. Most recently, Joe joined the chorus of the Dorset Opera Festival performing Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Mozart’s The Magic Flute for their summer festival this year.
In December 2021, Joe made his Bridgewater Hall debut with the RNCM Songsters when performing in a pre-concert performance of Scandinavian music. Joe was also selected to represent the RNCM as part of a chorus travelling to Bergen, Norway to perform in the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth's Magnificat in April. English Tenor, Rowan Gillard, has performed under the baton of some of the world’s finest conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Andrew Greenwood, David Parry and Edward Gardener. Some of Rowan’s recent engagements include singing in the chorus of Madame Butterfly for the Hallé Season Finale, concerts in Madonna Dell ‘Orto, Venice, as a founding course member of MusicaLink and touring to Bergen, Norway to perform the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth’s Magnificat with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rowan is currently in his fourth year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Paul Nilon.
Rowan has partaken in multiple radio and television broadcasts including two recordings of a BBC Radio 4 Daily Service and, in December 2022, will perform in the RNCM Opera Chorus as part of their production of Die Fledermaus.
Outside of performing, Rowan is passionate about education and, specifically, ensuring that music is made accessible to all children and that work is done to tackle the stigma around studying the arts.

British Soprano, Robyn Pullen, is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester where she is under the tutelage of Renowned Baritone, Matthew Best, with whom she has been studying for over 2 years. Prior to this, she studied Music at Cardiff University where she undertook her bachelor’s degree. Robyn has been proud to receive scholarships to both of her study endeavours – her current studies at the RNCM being generously supported by the James & Mary Glass Scholarship.
As a performer, most recently Robyn organised and performed in a charity fundraiser concert at her local church singing a mixture of Musical Theatre and Opera, successfully raising over £800 for her local parish.
Robyn has shared the stage with several renowned performers such as Baritone Roderick Williams and Aled Jones MBE to name a few. Alongside this, Robyn has sung throughout the UK and Europe both as a soloist and with choirs since the age of 12. Robyn has recently began work as a concert soloist. Current repertoire includes: Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart Vesperae solennes de confessore and Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem.
She is also a keen performer of opera. Current roles include: Mrs Sem Noye’s Fludde (Orchestra of the Swan for Benjamin Britten’s 100 year celebration), Susannah Susannah (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Carmen Carmen (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Lucilla La Scala di Seta.

Rebecca Anderson is a Scottish mezzo-soprano studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Studies in Performing at Royal Northern College of Music. In 2021 she completed an MMus with distinction at the RNCM and then worked as the President of the Students’ Union 21-22.
Recent opera credits have included Minskwoman in Flight (RNCM Opera); Lapak The Cunning Little Vixen (RNCM Opera); Sœur Anne de la Croix Dialogues des Carmélites (RNCM Opera); Phyllis Iolanthe (Cat-like Tread at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe); Noémie Cendrillon (Fife Opera); and Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw (Byre Opera). Rebecca was also part of the Young Artists’ Programme at Waterperry Opera Festival in the summer of 2021.
During her time as a student at the RNCM Rebecca has been the recipient of the Emmanuel Prize, a finalist for the Frederic Cox Award, and was Highly Commended in the English Song Prize. Previously, Rebecca was a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus’ Young Singers’ Programme for two seasons working with internationally renowned conductors such as Richard Egarr, Maxim Emelyanychev, and James Macmillan. Additionally, in 2018 Rebecca was part of the Dunedin Consort’s flagship scheme ‘Bridging the Gap’ touring across Scotland in a concert series conducted by Ben Parry.
Rebecca is also an avid conductor. This year she is working with Siân Edwards at the Royal Academy of Music as part of the Sorrell Woman’s Conducting Programme and was also part of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Women Conductor’s Initiative in 2017.

Joe Ashmore baritone
Joe is a lyric baritone in his second year of masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he obtained a first class honours degree at undergraduate level, generously supported by the South Square Trust and the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust.
Joe’s operatic experience includes three chorus roles during his undergraduate at RNCM, performing in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, Handel’s Theodora and Massenet’s Cendrillon. He was also cast as ‘Mistrust’ in RNCM's production of The Pilgrim's Progress by Vaughan-Williams in Spring 2019. Joe sang the role of the ‘Witch of Endor’ in Handel’s Saul as a guest soloist of the Academy Choir, Wimbledon, alongside renowned bass-baritone Christopher Purves in early 2020. Joe returned to the opera stage in June when he took the role of ‘Prosper’ in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne as part of RNCM Opera Scenes. Most recently, Joe joined the chorus of the Dorset Opera Festival performing Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Mozart’s The Magic Flute for their summer festival this year.
In December 2021, Joe made his Bridgewater Hall debut with the RNCM Songsters when performing in a pre-concert performance of Scandinavian music. Joe was also selected to represent the RNCM as part of a chorus travelling to Bergen, Norway to perform in the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth's Magnificat in April. A lover of the songs of Schubert, Joe performed his first full Winterreise earlier this month at Emmanuel Church, Didsbury’s weekly coffee concert series.

English Tenor, Rowan Gillard, has performed under the baton of some of the world’s finest conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Andrew Greenwood, David Parry and Edward Gardener. Some of Rowan’s recent engagements include singing in the chorus of Madame Butterfly for the Hallé Season Finale, concerts in Madonna Dell ‘Orto, Venice, as a founding course member of MusicaLink and touring to Bergen, Norway to perform the world premiere of Ryan Wigglesworth’s Magnificat with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rowan is currently in his fourth year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Paul Nilon.
Rowan has partaken in multiple radio and television broadcasts including two recordings of a BBC Radio 4 Daily Service and, in December 2022, will perform in the RNCM Opera Chorus as part of their production of Die Fledermaus.
Outside of performing, Rowan is passionate about education and, specifically, ensuring that music is made accessible to all children and that work is done to tackle the stigma around studying the arts.

Robyn Pullen soprano
British Soprano, Robyn Pullen, is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester where she is under the tutelage of Renowned Baritone, Matthew Best, with whom she has been studying for over 2 years. Prior to this, she studied Music at Cardiff University where she undertook her bachelor’s degree. Robyn has been proud to receive scholarships to both of her study endeavours – her current studies at the RNCM being generously supported by the James & Mary Glass Scholarship.
As a performer, most recently Robyn organised and performed in a charity fundraiser concert at her local church singing a mixture of Musical Theatre and Opera, successfully raising over £800 for her local parish.
Robyn has shared the stage with several renowned performers such as Baritone Roderick Williams and Aled Jones MBE to name a few. Alongside this, Robyn has sung throughout the UK and Europe both as a soloist and with choirs since the age of 12. Robyn has recently began work as a concert soloist. Current repertoire includes: Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart Vesperae solennes de confessore and Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem.
She is also a keen performer of opera. Current roles include: Mrs Sem Noye’s Fludde (Orchestra of the Swan for Benjamin Britten’s 100 year celebration), Susannah Susannah (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Carmen Carmen (Cardiff University Operatic Society) and Lucilla La Scala di Seta.
She is delighted to perform alongside Hartford Choral Society for her first opportunity to sing the Soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem.
